Oracle is transforming Fusion Cloud Applications with its new Redwood UX, delivering a modern, intuitive, and engaging experience. Redwood is being rolled out in Oracle Cloud Applications through quarterly updates, with set deadlines for adoption.

Transitioning your Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications to Redwood involves more than just enabling new pages in Redwood UI—it requires a well-structured approach to ensure continuity and minimise disruptions.

In this blog, I share an approach we’ve created and refined through our experience working with Redwood applications and transitioning from previous generation user experience. These insights will help you lay a solid foundation for your Redwood journey.

Our approach is iterative and structured into five key stages, outlined in the diagram below, enabling you to align and execute with each quarterly update from Oracle.

Now, let’s look at the key activities covered in each stage.

1. Discover

  • Identify key user interactions and critical business processes.
  • Create a technical inventory of personalisations, system integration points, and security setups.
  • List known pain points.
  • Define the scope of Redwood adoption based on business needs.

2. Plan & Prepare

  • Map key user interactions to functionalities available in Redwood.
  • Plan for new features to enhance the experience and address pain points.
  • Set up the environment and tools for the Redwood build.

3. Build & Test

  • Enable Redwood pages and functionalities.
  • Migrate personalisations.
  • Conduct thorough regression testing to validate system functionality for continuity and performance.
  • Gather early feedback through user playback sessions.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing.

4. Transition Readiness

  • Create end user training programme as needed.
  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to ease the transition.
  • Develop user guides and support materials as necessary.
  • Create cut-over activities plan.

5. Deploy & Support

  • Execute training sessions and ensure user readiness.
  • Deploy the tested and refined Redwood solution to the production environment.
  • Provide support to address any issues that arise post go-live.
